The 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup was the 11th edition of the tournament, held in the United States from June 5 to June 25, 2011. This edition featured 12 teams competing across 13 venues in 13 host cities, with the competition commencing at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and concluding with the final at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

Mexico entered the tournament as the defending champions and successfully retained their title by defeating the United States 4-2 in a thrilling final. This victory marked Mexico's sixth Gold Cup title and their ninth overall CONCACAF Championship. The tournament format consisted of three groups of four teams, with the top two teams from each group and the two best third-placed teams advancing to the knockout stage.

Javier Hernández emerged as the tournament's top scorer with seven goals and was also named Best Player. The competition featured a total of 25 matches, during which 80 goals were scored at an average of 3.2 goals per match. The overall attendance reached 1,140,602 spectators, showcasing the popularity of soccer in North America.

The tournament was not without controversy; prior to the start of the Gold Cup, five Mexican players tested positive for clenbuterol due to alleged contamination from tainted meat. Following investigations, these players were allowed to be replaced, and all were later acquitted by the Mexican Football Federation.
