Boavista Futebol Clube, commonly known as Boavista, is a professional football club based in Porto, Portugal. The club currently competes in the Primeira Liga, the top tier of Portuguese football. Founded on August 1, 1903, Boavista is one of the oldest clubs in Portuguese football and has a rich history spanning over a century.

Boavista plays its home matches at the Estádio do Bessa Século XXI, which has a capacity of approximately 28,263 spectators. The stadium, renovated for Euro 2004, provides a modern and atmospheric venue for the club's passionate supporters. Boavista's colors are black and white, earning them the nickname "As Panteras" (The Panthers), with their distinctive checkered shirts being one of the most recognizable in Portuguese football.

Throughout its history, Boavista has established itself as one of Portugal's most successful clubs outside the traditional "Big Three" of Benfica, Porto, and Sporting CP. The club's greatest achievement came in the 2000-01 season when they won the Primeira Liga title, breaking the dominance of the "Big Three" for the first time in 55 years. This historic triumph remains one of the most remarkable achievements in Portuguese football history.

In addition to their league success, Boavista has also tasted victory in domestic cup competitions. They have won the Taça de Portugal (Portuguese Cup) five times, with their most recent triumph coming in 1997. The club has also claimed three Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira (Portuguese Super Cup) titles.

Boavista's success has not been limited to domestic competitions. The club has participated in European competitions on several occasions, with their best performance coming in the 2002-03 UEFA Champions League, where they reached the group stage. They have also competed in the UEFA Cup (now Europa League) multiple times, reaching the quarter-finals in 1993-94.

However, Boavista's history has not been without challenges. In 2008, the club was administratively relegated to the third tier of Portuguese football due to a match-fixing scandal known as the "Whistle Case". This period marked a difficult time for the club, but Boavista showed remarkable resilience. After several years in the lower divisions, they were reinstated to the Primeira Liga in 2014 following a legal battle.

Boavista's rivalry with FC Porto, known as the "Derby da Invicta", is one of the most intense in Portuguese football.
