Bromley Football Club is a professional football club based in Bromley, Greater London, currently competing in League Two, the fourth tier of English football. Founded in 1892, Bromley began its journey in the South London League and quickly became a founding member of the Southern League in 1894. The club has played its home matches at Hayes Lane since 1938, having previously been based at several other grounds.
Throughout its history, Bromley has experienced various successes and challenges. In the early 1900s, the club enjoyed a notable period, winning the Spartan League, Isthmian League twice, and the FA Amateur Cup within just four seasons. These achievements laid a strong foundation for the club's identity in English football.
The first half of the 20th century saw Bromley oscillate between leagues, spending significant time in the Athenian League before rejoining the Isthmian League in 1952. The club achieved further success by winning the Isthmian League title multiple times during this period. However, their fortunes fluctuated, and they faced relegation challenges throughout the decades.
Bromley's return to prominence began when they joined the Conference South in 2007. After a few seasons of competitive play, they won the Conference South title in 2014-15, securing promotion to the National League. Since then, they have maintained their status in the National League and have become a recognized presence within that division.
The club's most significant recent achievement came with their victory in the FA Trophy during the 2021-22 season. A narrow win against Wrexham at Wembley highlighted Bromley's potential on a national stage and marked one of their most memorable moments in recent history.
Bromley is known as "The Ravens," with three ravens depicted on their crest, reflecting a connection to the local area's coat of arms. They are also sometimes referred to as "The Lillywhites," which relates to their traditional home kit colors.
Rivalries are an essential aspect of Bromley's identity, particularly with nearby clubs like Dartford and Maidstone United.
