Santa Clara Açores Futebol, SAD, commonly known as Santa Clara, is a professional football club based in Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel in the Azores, Portugal. The club currently competes in the Liga Portugal 2, the second tier of Portuguese football. Santa Clara is the most successful club from the Azores archipelago and has played a significant role in representing the region in mainland Portuguese football.

Founded on May 12, 1921, Santa Clara takes its name from the Saint Clare of Assisi. The club's colors are red and white, and they play their home matches at the Estádio de São Miguel, which has a capacity of approximately 13,000 spectators. This stadium, located in the heart of Ponta Delgada, has been the club's home since 1930.

Santa Clara's journey in Portuguese football has been marked by periods of success and challenges. The club first reached the Primeira Liga, Portugal's top division, in the 1999-2000 season. This promotion was a historic moment for the club and the Azores region, as Santa Clara became the first team from the archipelago to compete at the highest level of Portuguese football.

Over the years, Santa Clara has oscillated between the Primeira Liga and the second tier. Their most recent stint in the top flight began in the 2018-19 season when they secured promotion after finishing second in the LigaPro. This promotion marked the beginning of a successful period for the club, as they managed to establish themselves as a competitive force in the Primeira Liga for several seasons.

During their time in the Primeira Liga, Santa Clara achieved some notable results and finishes. In the 2020-21 season, they secured a sixth-place finish, their highest ever in the top flight, which qualified them for the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League. This marked another historic moment for the club, as it was their first-ever participation in European competition.

Santa Clara's participation in European football, albeit brief, was a source of pride for the club and the entire Azores region. It showcased the club's growth and ambition, putting them on the map of European football.

The club has also had success in domestic cup competitions. They have reached the semi-finals of the Taça de Portugal (Portuguese Cup) on two occasions, in 2004-05 and 2020-21, narrowly missing out on a place in the final both times.
