Portuguese football team.

Clube Futebol Estrela da Amadora, commonly known as Estrela Amadora, is a professional football club based in Amadora, Portugal. Founded on January 22, 1932, the club has a rich history in Portuguese football, having experienced both highs and lows throughout its existence. Estrela Amadora currently competes in the Primeira Liga, the top tier of Portuguese football.

The club plays its home matches at the Estádio José Gomes, which has a capacity of approximately 11,000 spectators. Estrela's colors are red, green, and white, which are reflected in their home kit and crest. The club's nickname is "Os Tricolores" (The Tricolors), referring to these three colors.

Estrela Amadora's most successful period came in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The club achieved promotion to the Primeira Divisão (now Primeira Liga) for the first time in its history in 1988. This was followed by their greatest triumph in 1990 when they won the Taça de Portugal (Portuguese Cup), defeating Farense in the final. This victory remains the club's most significant achievement to date and qualified them for European competition for the first time.

In the 1990-91 season, Estrela Amadora participated in the European Cup Winners' Cup, where they were eliminated in the first round by Legia Warsaw. Despite this early exit, the experience of competing in Europe was a significant milestone for the club.

Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Estrela Amadora established themselves as a regular fixture in the Primeira Liga. However, financial difficulties began to take their toll, and the club was relegated to the Segunda Liga in 2009. The situation worsened, and in 2011, Estrela Amadora was declared bankrupt and ceased operations.

In 2020, the club was refounded as Clube Futebol Estrela da Amadora SAD, effectively reviving the original club. This new entity started in the Campeonato de Portugal (third tier) and achieved back-to-back promotions, first to the Liga Portugal 2 in 2021, and then to the Primeira Liga in 2023.

Estrela Amadora's return to the top flight after more than a decade is seen as a remarkable comeback story in Portuguese football.
