Cheltenham Town Football Club is a professional football team based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England. Founded in 1887, the club has a rich history and is known as "The Robins," a nickname derived from their traditional red and white striped kits. Cheltenham Town currently competes in EFL League Two, the fourth tier of English football.

The club began its journey in local football before moving to the Birmingham Combination in 1932 and then to the Southern League in 1935. For much of its early history, Cheltenham spent time in the Southern League, where they found success by winning the Midland Division title in the 1982-83 season and the Premier Division title in 1984-85. This success allowed them to gain promotion to the Alliance Premier League (now known as the National League) in 1985.

Under the management of Steve Cotterill, Cheltenham Town achieved significant milestones, including winning the FA Trophy in 1998 and securing promotion to the Football League for the first time after winning the Conference title in 1998-99. Cotterill's tenure was marked by notable achievements, including guiding the team to an FA Cup fifth-round appearance and a Third Division play-off final victory in 2002.

The club enjoyed a successful period in the early 2000s but faced challenges thereafter. After being relegated from League One following a three-season stay, Cheltenham struggled for consistency and were relegated back to the National League in 2015. However, under manager Gary Johnson, they bounced back with a dominant performance in the Conference during the 2015-16 season, winning the title with an impressive 101 points.

In recent years, Cheltenham Town has made strides back into League One. Under Michael Duff's management, they captured their first Football League title by winning League Two during the 2020-21 season. This achievement was celebrated by fans as a significant milestone for the club.

Cheltenham Town plays its home matches at Whaddon Road, which has undergone renovations to enhance facilities for players and supporters. The stadium has a capacity of approximately 7,066 and is known for its vibrant atmosphere on match days.

The club has developed rivalries with several teams, particularly with nearby clubs such as Forest Green Rovers and Oxford United.
