The Czech Republic national football team (Czech: Česká fotbalová reprezentace), recognized by FIFA as Czechia, represents the Czech Republic in men's international football and is governed by the Football Association of the Czech Republic (FAČR). The team has a rich history, having participated in international competitions as both Bohemia and Czechoslovakia before the country split in 1993.
Czechia made its competitive debut at UEFA Euro 1996, where they finished as runners-up, losing to Germany in the final. Since then, they have consistently qualified for every European Championship, showcasing their competitive spirit. The team has also participated in nine FIFA World Cups, with their best performances as Czechoslovakia being runners-up in 1934 and 1962. As an independent nation, their World Cup appearance in 2006 marked their first and only qualification since the split.
Throughout their history, the Czech Republic has produced numerous talented players, including legendary figures like Pavel Nedvěd and Jan Koller. Koller is the all-time top scorer for the national team with 55 goals, while Petr Čech holds the record for most caps at 124. The team's colors are primarily red and white, reflecting their national identity.
In recent years, the Czech Republic has faced challenges in qualifying for major tournaments. They reached the quarter-finals of Euro 2020, defeating the Netherlands along the way but were eliminated by Denmark. In the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup, they finished third in their group and were unable to qualify. As of October 2024, Czechia is ranked 45th in the FIFA World Rankings.
