The Denmark national football team (Danish: Danmarks herre-fodboldlandshold) represents Denmark in men's international football competitions. It is governed by the Danish Football Association (DBU), which oversees the organization and development of football in Denmark. The team's nickname, De Rød-Hvide (The Red and Whites), reflects their traditional colors of red and white, while they are also known as Danish Dynamite due to their exciting style of play during the 1980s and 1990s.
Denmark has a rich footballing history, having first competed internationally in 1908. The team won silver medals at the Olympics in 1908 and 1912 and achieved significant success in the 1980s with the emergence of the "Danish Dynamite" squad. This era culminated in their most notable achievement, winning the UEFA European Championship in 1992, where they triumphed over reigning champions the Netherlands in the semi-finals and defeated Germany 2-0 in the final.
Denmark made its FIFA World Cup debut in 1986 and has qualified for six tournaments since then, with their best performance occurring in 1998 when they reached the quarter-finals. They have also made it to the knockout stages in 1986, 2002, and 2018. In addition to their World Cup successes, Denmark has been competitive in continental tournaments, finishing as runners-up in the 1984 European Championship and winning the King Fahd Cup (now Confederations Cup) in 1995.
The team has produced many legendary players over the years, including Michael Laudrup, who is regarded as one of Denmark's greatest footballers. Christian Eriksen holds the record for most caps with 136 appearances, while Jon Dahl Tomasson is among the top scorers with 52 goals.
Denmark plays its home matches at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, which has a capacity of over 38,000 spectators. Under current head coach Brian Riemer, Denmark continues to develop a competitive squad that aims for success on both European and world stages. As of October 2024, Denmark is ranked 21st in FIFA rankings.
