The France national under-16 football team, known as Les Bleuets (The Little Blues), is managed by the French Football Federation and represents France in international youth football competitions. Historically, the team competed in the UEFA European Under-16 Championship until it was restructured into an under-17 competition in 2002. Although France never won the under-16 championship, they finished as runners-up twice, in 1996 and 2001.
In addition to their participation in the UEFA tournament, the under-16 team competes in various regional and international tournaments, including the Tournoi de Val-de-Marne, the Montaigu Tournament, and the Aegean Cup. These competitions provide valuable experience for young players and help develop their skills on an international stage.
The current head coach is Patrick Gonfalone, who oversees a squad that includes promising talents from various French clubs. The team's competitive history reflects a commitment to nurturing young players, with several graduates moving on to represent the senior national team.
France's under-16 team has also achieved success in other tournaments, winning the Val-de-Marne Tournament seven times and the Aegean Cup six times. These victories highlight their strength in youth competitions and contribute to France's reputation as a powerhouse in developing football talent.
