The Honduras national football team, known as Los Catrachos (The Catrachos), represents Honduras in men's international football. It is governed by the Federación Nacional Autónoma de Fútbol de Honduras (FENAFUTH) and is a member of CONCACAF in North America. The team's colors are red, white, and blue, which reflect the national flag.
Honduras has qualified for the FIFA World Cup three times, in 1982, 2010, and 2014, but has never advanced beyond the group stage. Their best performance came in 1982 when they drew with both Spain and Northern Ireland but lost to Yugoslavia. Outside of the World Cup, Honduras has seen success in other competitions, winning the CONCACAF Championship in 1981 and finishing third in the Copa América in 2001.
The team's highest FIFA ranking was 20th in 2001, while their lowest was 101st in December 2015. As of October 2024, they are ranked 77th. Honduras plays its home matches primarily at Estadio Nacional Chelato Uclés in Tegucigalpa.
Maynor Figueroa holds the record for most caps with 181 appearances, while Carlos Pavón is the top scorer with 57 goals. The team has a storied history that includes a notable rivalry with El Salvador, highlighted by events during the "Football War" leading up to the 1970 World Cup.
Honduras faced challenges during the qualification campaigns for recent World Cups, failing to qualify for the 2018 tournament and struggling significantly in the 2022 qualifiers without a single win. Under current coach Reinaldo Rueda, the team is undergoing a generational change as they aim to rebuild.
