Mansfield Town Football Club, commonly known as Mansfield Town or simply Mansfield, is a professional football club based in the town of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England. Founded in 1897 as Mansfield Wesleyans, the club has undergone several transformations and name changes before settling on its current name in 1910. Nicknamed "The Stags," Mansfield Town plays its home matches at Field Mill, which has been their ground since 1919 and currently has a capacity of approximately 10,000.Mansfield's early years were spent in local leagues, and they joined the Notts & Derbyshire League in 1906. The club enjoyed success in the Midland League, winning the championship three times in the 1920s. In 1931, they were elected to the Football League and began competing in the Third Division. Their first significant achievement came in the 1962-63 season when they won promotion to the Second Division, marking a high point in their history.The club's most notable period came during the late 1980s and early 1990s under manager Ian Greaves.
