SC Heerenveen is a professional football club based in Heerenveen, Netherlands, currently competing in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football. The club, founded on July 20, 1920, has a rich history and is known for its distinctive blue and white striped shirts adorned with red hearts, a symbol of the Frisian flag. Heerenveen plays its home matches at the Abe Lenstra Stadium, named after the club's legendary player, which has a capacity of 27,224 spectators.

Heerenveen has established itself as a regular fixture in the Eredivisie since gaining promotion in 1993. The club's most successful period came in the late 1990s and early 2000s under the management of Foppe de Haan. During this time, Heerenveen consistently finished in the top half of the table and qualified for European competitions on several occasions.

The club's greatest achievement to date came in 2009 when they won the KNVB Cup, defeating FC Twente in the final. This victory secured Heerenveen's first and only major trophy, marking a significant milestone in the club's history.
