SK Slavia Praha
Czech football team.
Slavia Praha, also known as Slavia Prague, is one of the oldest and most successful football clubs in the Czech Republic. Founded in 1892, the club has a rich history and a passionate fan base. Slavia plays its home matches at the Sinobo Stadium, formerly known as Eden Arena, which has a capacity of 19,370 spectators.
The club's traditional colors are red and white, which are prominently featured in their distinctive half-and-half shirts. This unique design has earned them the nickname "Sešívaní" (The Sewn Ones). Slavia is also known as "Červenobílí" (The Red and Whites) due to their colors.
Throughout its history, Slavia Praha has been a dominant force in Czech football. The club has won the Czech First League title 21 times, with seven of these titles coming since the foundation of the Czech Republic in 1993. They have also claimed the Czech Cup on 11 occasions. This impressive domestic record makes Slavia one of the most successful clubs in Czech football history.
In European competitions, Slavia has had several notable performances. They reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup (now Europa League) in 1996 and have participated in the UEFA Champions League group stage twice, in 2007-08 and 2019-20. In recent years, they have become regular participants in the Europa League, reaching the quarter-finals in both 2019 and 2021.
Slavia Praha has produced numerous talented players who have gone on to represent the Czech national team and play for top clubs across Europe. Some notable alumni include Pavel Kuka, Vladimír Šmicer, and Tomáš Souček.
The club's biggest rivals are Sparta Prague, with whom they contest the "Prague Derby." Slavia also has rivalries with other Czech teams such as Viktoria Plzeň and Baník Ostrava.
