TSG 1899 Hoffenheim is a professional football club based in Hoffenheim, a village of Sinsheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The club, commonly known as TSG Hoffenheim, currently competes in the Bundesliga, the top tier of German football. Hoffenheim plays its home games at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena, which has a capacity of 30,150 spectators.

Founded in 1899 as a gymnastics club, Hoffenheim's modern football department was established in 1945. For much of its history, the club played in the lower tiers of German football. However, Hoffenheim's fortunes changed dramatically in the early 2000s when Dietmar Hopp, a former player and co-founder of software company SAP, began investing heavily in the club.

Under Hopp's financial backing, Hoffenheim experienced a rapid rise through the German football pyramid. In 2000, the club was playing in the fifth tier of German football. By 2008, they had secured promotion to the Bundesliga, completing a remarkable journey from amateur status to the top flight in just eight years.

Hoffenheim's first season in the Bundesliga was a success, with the club surprisingly leading the table at the winter break. Although they eventually finished seventh, it was an impressive debut for the newcomers. Since then, Hoffenheim has established itself as a regular fixture in the Bundesliga, consistently challenging for European qualification.

The club's most successful period came under the management of Julian Nagelsmann, who was appointed in 2016 at the age of 28, making him the youngest permanent head coach in Bundesliga history. Under Nagelsmann's guidance, Hoffenheim achieved fourth and third-place finishes in the Bundesliga, securing qualification for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the club's history in the 2017-18 season.
